GIFS is a private, independent K-12 school that is committed to providing an exceptional 21st Century education for all students. Welcome to our world!
We highly value our richly diverse learning community of students, families, and staff who hail from countries around the globe. In our daily practice, we strive to listen to the voices of each other, recognizing and respecting our differences, and celebrating our common humanity.
GIFS students and families are engaged with the local community through service learning, the arts, and field trips to enhance the learning experience. Recently, students were involved in a beach cleanup, a Kimchi Day to make and donate the Korean side dish to a nearby children’s orphanage, a trip to a UNESCO World Heritage Site named Hahoe Village, and a service project at the Treak Community Center in Cambodia.
With a highly trained and dedicated staff, GIFS is proud of the quality of our teachers. All teachers are certified by their host countries and regularly attend Professional Development events in Korea and around the world to remain current with the best practices in education.
The South Korea Activities Conference (SKAC) is a union of eight international schools that collectively organize Athletic Competitions, a Fine Arts Fair, Model United Nations (MUN), and Spelling Bee. GIFS hosts some of these events and our students travel regularly to other schools to participate in SKAC activities. Go Tigers!
All GIFS students join one of four houses to develop and strengthen bonds between students and teachers. Throughout the year, a range of house events and competitions are organized to promote school spirit and provide a sense of belonging for staff and students. By the way, one of our students created the artwork for the House Crests shown above!
GIFS has a lovely campus in the coastal community of Sacheon. The facilities consist of a main building, library, two technology labs, a science lab, cafeteria, and Haddon Hall, which houses a gym, climbing wall and community Multi-Purpose Room.
Sacheon City is located in a mountainous coastal region on the south central tip of South Korea. The area combines small businesses and a thriving manufacturing community that includes a Korean Air Force Base, a small regional airport, shipbuilding, and aeronautical industries. Several universities and technical colleges exist nearby and important historical sites are numerous in the area.
