Each year candidates from grades 5-12 are elected by the student body to serve as members of the GIFS student council. These representatives actively support student voice through regular collaborative meetings with school staff and by hosting assemblies during the year. They also support student events through fundraising and volunteer work. Interested students are required to submit a formal application and are invited to promote themselves through campaigning during the weeks before the election. As part of the process, all candidates must present a brief persuasive speech to the student body in an effort to solicit enough votes to secure a council seat.
